Please include your iPhone model, your iOS version, and the SlipSentry version, which you can find in the app under About.
Scanning a receipt
- On the home screen, tap Capture Receipt.
- Hold your iPhone over the receipt. The scanner finds the edges and captures the page, or you can tap the shutter button yourself.
- For a long receipt, scan each part as a separate page before tapping Save in the scanner.
- SlipSentry reads the store, date, total, and items. Check them on the Review Receipt screen, fix anything that's wrong, then tap Save.
Tips for better results
- Lay the receipt flat on a dark, plain surface in good light.
- Keep the whole receipt in view and avoid shadows and glare.
- Faded or crumpled receipts may not read fully. You can always type in the details yourself.
The camera doesn't open
SlipSentry needs camera access to scan. Go to Settings > Apps > SlipSentry and turn on Camera.
Editing a receipt
- Tap a receipt in the list to open it.
- Tap Edit.
- Change the store, purchase date, total, or items. Separate items with commas.
- Tap Save, or Cancel to keep the original details.
Searching your receipts
Type in the search field on the home screen to find receipts by store name or item name. Tap Cancel to clear the search and see all receipts again.
Deleting a receipt
- Open the receipt and tap Delete Receipt, then confirm.
- Or swipe left on the receipt in the list and tap Delete.
Deleting can't be undone. If iCloud sync is on, the receipt is also removed from iCloud and your other devices.
iCloud sync
When you're signed in to iCloud, SlipSentry stores your receipts privately in your iCloud account and keeps them in sync. There's nothing to set up in the app.
- Make sure you're signed in to iCloud in Settings, and that iCloud is turned on for SlipSentry in your iCloud settings.
- Receipts are always saved on your iPhone first, so the app works offline. Changes sync once you're connected.
- Syncing happens in the background and can take a few minutes, especially for receipts with large images.
- Receipts sync only between devices signed in to the same Apple Account.
- If your iCloud storage is full, new receipts stay on your iPhone and sync once space is available.
Receipts aren't syncing
- Check that you're connected to the internet.
- Check that you're signed in to iCloud with the same Apple Account on each device.
- Check that iCloud is on for SlipSentry and that you have iCloud storage available.
- Open SlipSentry and leave it open for a few minutes.
